Death of Mrs. Eba Lawson of Murray County, Georgia

Mrs. Eba Lawson of Eton, Murray County, Georgia, Dies on Train at Chattanooga, 1911

Mrs. Eba Lawson, of Eton [Murray, Georgia], who suffered from tuberculosis, was on her way to Texas for her health, when she died on the train. The death was discovered at Chattanooga. Mrs. Lawson was traveling with her two small children. The children were taken in charge by Mrs. Marshall, the police matron, and placed in the Vine Street orphanage, thence sent back to Dalton, where a Mrs. Evans kept them until Mr. Lawson arrived. Meanwhile, authorities had located Mrs. Lawson and notified him of his wife's death. The body was sent to Sharp's in Chattanooga, and was returned to Dalton.
