  "Mrs. Carter was born in Clay county, North Carolina, August 8, 1828, and was therefore in her sixty-seventh year. She and Mr. Carter were married December 8, 1869, and have nine children, all of whom are living. They are: Mr. J. S. Carter of Westminister, S. C.; Dr. W. J. Carter of Uraguayma, Brazil; Messrs F. H. and R. C. Carter of Walhalla, S. C.; Mrs. S. E. Stephens of Pingtu, China; Mrs. E. L. Morgan of Laichowfu, China; Mrs. W. F. Tanner of Columbia, S. C.; Misses Florrie and Winnie Carter and Mr. John Carter of Gainesville. Two of the daughters--Mrs. Stephens and Mrs. Morgan--are foreign missionaries and have been in China for several years."

Her full name was “Mary Lizzie Dove PRITCHETT, born 19 October 1904, daughter of Steve Thomas PRITCHETT (married Alice Saphronia MURRAY) of Hall’s Chapel, Murray County, Georgia. Some records do show "Elizabeth" as the middle name instead of Lizzie; if that's the correct form of the name, she never mentioned it to me. Dove married Noah Samuel CARTER on 16 April 1922 in Murray County, Georgia. They are buried at Murray Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Chatsworth, Murray, Georgia (Find A Grave Memorials:  25235766 and 25235705.

Two of her sons, Charles Winfrey CARTER and Danny Frank CARTER are buried at Summerour Methodist Church cemetery (the new section across from what is now Amazing Grace Baptist Church) at Crandall, Murray County, Georgia. Find A Grave Memorials: 60993371 and 60993365.
