The will and testament of Absalum Pence late of said County deceased, having been proved in vacation and no objections being urged and motion being made to admit said will to record It is therefore considered that said probate is sufficient and it is ordered that said will be recorded--
July the 5 day of 1852

In the name of God amen I Absalum Pence of the state of Georgia and County of Gilmer being of sound and perfect mind and memory Blessed be God, do this 30th day of January in the year of our Lord 1852 make and publish this my last will and testament in the manner following, that is to say first, I give and bequeath all and every of my Estate and property that I possess, to my beloved wife, Frances Pence, to have and to hold during her naturial life and at her death, the Estate to be equally divided between my Daughters that is Malinda Debord Susan Alvina Wells Mary Emily Hill Lusinda Pence
my sons I have already provided for that is Leroy Pence Caleb Posey Pence Andrew Calaway Pence I have given them lands to the amount of their part of my Estate

"Ellijay, Ga., August 18.--
"Roland Bearden killed Ambrose Lockabee Sunday afternoon about fifteen miles east of here by cutting his throat and was knocked in the head by the victim's son, who was present, receiving wounds from which he will die.
"Bearden was drunk and Lockabee was trying to get him home. They quarreled, and Bearden jerked out a knife and almost severed Lockabee's head from his body with one stroke.
"Lockabee's boy, who saw the fight, hurled a stone at Bearden, crushing his skull."
