Robert Everett Parker obituary and other sources. Died 1911, Atlanta, Georgia. Obit. in North Georgia Citizen, Dalton, Georgia.
"Death Calls Bob Parker," [obituary/article on death of Robert E. Parker] in *North Georgia Citizen,* [Dalton, Georgia], Thurs., 16 Nov. 1911, pg. 1 [via Galileo: "GeorgiA LIbrary LEarning Online" library project]. http://dlg.galileo.usg.edu/ngnewspapers/id:ngc1911-0357 (accessed 25 December 2016).
[Headline and subhead]: "Death Calls Bob Parker: Prominent Atlanta Man Was Well Known and Intensely Popular Here."
[Subhead 2]: "Was Vice-President of The Arnold Hat Company."
[Subhead 3]: "For Years This Energetic Business Man Followed Work and Made Great Success of His Life."
[Summary, with Quotes]:
(In Dalton), people received telephone call, stating "that Mr. Robert E. Parker, had died at his residence, No. 353 West Peachtree street, following an illness of several months."
Deceased was well known. "It was in Dalton that Mr. Parker, then a boy, started his life's work. He entered a book store here, and from Dalton went to the Dade coal mines, where he clearly showed the makeup of a man in starting to work guarding convicts." At that camp, he showed skill at sales and "he was put in charge of the commissariat department." Next: traveling salesman, successful. "Even after he had acquired a considerable interest in the Arnold Hat company, and had been made vice-president of the company, Mr. Parker would not give up his work on the road, sticking to it until he was seized with the illness which finally resulted in his decease, and literally dying in harness." Married "here" [Whitfield Co., Georgia] "to Miss Kate Shumate, daughter of the late Col. I. E. Shumate. He was a nephew of the late Col. R. J. McCamy, of this city" [Dalton, Georgia]. Survived by "sons and daughters: Robert S., of the legal firm of Brown & Randolph; Howard, with the Arnold Hat company; Lewis, with the Arnold Hat company; Misses Elizabeth, Katherine, and Margaret. / He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Mollie Parker, and two sisters, Mrs. C. C. Thorne and Mrs. H. C. Hudgins."

Transcribed verbatim insofar as I could read the handwriting. The writing itself is fair, but there is a heaving blurry, smudged quality in the copy that I used to do the transcription. Misspelled words (such as “through” for “thorough”) left as they were in original.
Transcript by D.K. Pritchett, from the files of Southern Muse. Previously published on my Family Tree Documents blog on Tumblr.

Nancy (Petty) Murray
Nancy Petty married Winfield Scott Murray of Union County, Georgia. After Scott's death, Nancy is found in Fannin County, and later, in Murray County, Georgia. Some time after 1910, Nancy moved, with her grown sons and daughter, to Oklahoma. This wonderful photo shows Nancy with Elias & Jane (her offspring) on a farm northeast of Elgin, Okla. in 1916. This photo was migrated from my old Family Tree Maker site, Families of North Georgia and Alabama ~ so this is the best quality digital image I have of it right now. One day, I'll try to do a new, larger scan from my hard copy.
