Hazel Allene Bloodsworth, Hazel Arlene Bloodsworth Research Notes

Research: Aragon, Bloodsworth, Holtzclaw, Whitaker, Williams

Sources, analysis, notes. There is room for error; descendants should check further for birth, marriage, and death sources.

Hazel Bloodsworth + Charles E. Whitaker:  exact date of marriage not known, but would be before 1952; and ID of groom is iffy (probably is the Charles Eugene Whitaker killed in action in Korea in October 1952). Their son, Charles Eugene Whitaker, Jr., was born in 1952 according to his own marriage doc., which lists Charles Eugene Whitaker and Hazel Bloodsworth as his parents. The bride is Gloria Dianne Fuller. Source: Alabama County Marriages, 1809-1950.

Other evidence of the marriage and correct ID of the bride exists:

By the time Hazel married John Milton Holtzclaw, Jr., in 1953, she was going by the surname of Whitaker. These surnames are tied together showing the probably relation of one woman as the wife of (1) Charles Whitaker;  (2) John Milton Holtzclaw; and (3) Hugo Juarez.
*Source showing all names in relation to survivors: obituary of John Milton Holtzclaw III.

Whitaker-Bloodsworth evidence: Evidence for the ID of wife's name is found in son's marriage doc.: Alabama County Marriages, 1809-1950: Charles Eugene Whitaker, male (husband of Hazel Bloodsworth); listed in source as father of the groom (of same name as the father), Charles Eugene Whitaker (born 1952; marrying Gloria Dianne Fuller).

Whitaker-Holtzclaw Marriage
Hazel Arlene Whitaker married John Milton Holtzclaw, Jr. Marriage: 10 February 1953, Wichita, Texas, United States

Note misspelling in index: John Milton Holtgdaw Jr married Hazel Arlene Whitaker on 10 Feb. 1953 in , Wichita, Texas. [Note indexing errors to wit: that the marriage date comes before the license date in this index; seems illogical and non-typical; also, groom's surname should be Holtzclaw]. Source: John Milton Holtgdaw Jr in the Texas, Select County Marriage Records, 1837-2015. No Image; text-only collection.

Notes, conclusions: Alline apparently married Hugo Juarez Aragon. The marriage is evidenced in secondary documents, obituaries, and tombstones, but record is not noted (not yet found?). Marriage: 12 October 1954, Guadalupe, Texas, United States (source for marriage date not stated; if correct, it precedes bride's Alabama divorce from Holtzclaw, 1955? Need marriage source).

Hugo Juarez Rene Aragon's petition for naturalization: Wife: Hazel Arlene Bloodsworth Aragon. Source: Texas, Naturalization Records, 1852-1991 for Hugo Juarez Aragon, Austin Naturalization Petitions, 1955 - 1957. Petition for Naturalization No. 2449.

Hugo Juarez Aragon's stepdaughter shares a tombstone with him. Her name is Mary Florence Williams. Note further avenue of research: Mary's mother is probably Allene/Arlene (Bloodsworth) Juarez, wife of Hugo Juarez. Hazel apparently had an earlier marriage to a David Lewis Williams; possibly, this is the origin of the Williams surname for that child; no other evidence, just a coincidence of surnames. No access to birth or death records; researchers should check all possible records before accepting conclusions!

Evidence of bride's ID: Alline's tombstone under the Aragon surname has a birth year that matches Hazel Alline Pollard/Bloodsworth of Alabama, and since Hugo Aragon has a stepchild named Williams (fitting into the marriage framework of the Alabama marriage of Hazel Alline Pollard and David Williams), it seems to fit the Alabama woman. See marriages. The wife in this marriage has other husbands documented along with the Aragon surname, in the following indexed obituary, which shows that Hazel went by: Aragon, Holtzclaw, and Whitaker (apparently, judging by the names of the children and the corresponding marriages of Hazel; other marriages probably exist, but still trying to make sure it's the same Hazel Arlene/Allene of many surnames). Source for family ties: John Milton Holtzclaw III in the U.S., Obituary Collection, 1930-Current.

Note: Apparently Hazel moved from Alabama to Texas. She seems to be the niece of a Hazel A. Bloodsworth in Texas (namesake or error?).

Obituary of John Milton Holtzclaw III (indexed): John Milton Holtzclaw III in the U.S., Obituary Collection, 1930-Current U.S., Obituary Collection: John Milton Holtzclaw III, male, deceased (aged 62).
