Summary of Details (originating in Monday's Atlanta Constitution, republished in North Georgia Citizen): Morgan had been drinking, became despondent, said he was tired of life, complained of a violent headache (inferred, as an excuse to go to the store), bought 50 grams of morphine, took about 25 grams of morphine in front of a witness (14-year-old Harry McGuirk, his wife's cousin), told sister-in-law, Mrs. Crew, " 'I have gotten some morphine and have taken enough to fix me.' " Wife called Dr. Cox; nothing could be done; Morgan died two hours later.
