Mary Ann V. Caylor, related to Dover, related to Mullinax, married to John Edmondson Headrick (Murray County, Georgia)

Quick notes on a Caylor line I've researched... (subject to change--needs a doublecheck)!

These are my conclusions, based on circumstantial evidence provided by marriages and the fact that various children showed up in certain households (thought to be related) in the 1870 census (no relationships provided in census).

Mary Ann V. Caylor's parents died when she was young. George Oscar Caylor died in 1865, and his wife, Matilda (Dover) Caylor, died in 1867. This left their children orphans.
Mary Ann V. Caylor was taken in by her uncle (George's brother), Levi Caylor, and Levi's wife, Emaline (Lackey) Caylor. Mary Ann V. Caylor later married John Edmondson Headrick, son of William Headrick and Mary C. Emert.
Mary Ann's two siblings were taken in by other uncles and aunts.

George's brother, Levi Caylor (b. ; married Emaline Lackey), took in Mary Ann V. Caylor (born 1858, Murray County, Georgia). Mary Ann later married John Edmondson Headrick, son of William Mathew Headrick and Mary C. Emert.

George's brother, William M. Caylor (and wife, Martha Jane Mullinax, married 20 Feb. 1868, Murray County) took in James Elijah "Eli" Caylor.

George's sister, Mary (Caylor) Dover, wife of Charles Dover, took in Rhoda Jane Caylor. (In the 1870 census, in Family Search, the foster parent/guardians are listed under the surname "Dober." Not only was Rhoda related to Mary (Caylor) Dover, but she was related to her husband Charles Dover, because his sister was Matilda (Dover) Caylor, Rhoda's mother.

Going back to George's son, James Eli "Eli" Caylor, his relationship to William Caylor (and Martha Jane Mullinax) is finally shown in the 1880 census: James E Caylor, nephew. That helps, but it's still very tricky. The boy is related to both husband and wife. He is William's nephew, because William is the brother of Eli's father, George Caylor. William's wife, Martha Jane Mullinax, was the stepdaughter of Levi's aunt Mary (Caylor) Dover.

It's impossible to straighten out all the relationships, but it does help show that these assorted children had a reason for being in these assorted households in 1870. They became orphaned and went to live with aunts and uncles.

Mary Ann V. Caylor (wife of John Edmondson Headrick) is Charles Dover's niece twice over. She is his brother-in-law's child; that is, the child of his wife's brother, George. And she is his sister's child--that is, child of his sister, Matilda (Dover) Caylor.
