Alfred Babb, born 1821, Private, Co. H, 8th East Tennessee Infantry (Enlisted 1863). Deserted Jan. 1864.

Alfred Babb, aged 42, enlisted as a Private in Company H, 8th East Tennessee Infantry, at Camp Nelson, Kentucky, on 11 August 1863.

Joined for duty and enrolled on 25 July 1853, Greene County, Tennessee, for 3 years.

Muster rolls: Present for July-Aug 1863; Sept-Oct 1863; Nov-Dec 1863.

He deserted on 20 Jan. 1864. The following remarks were on the Muster Rolls after that: 

Jan-Feb 1864: Deserted on March from Strawberry Plains to Knoxville Tenn July 20/64.

Mar-Apr 1864: Deserted on March from Srawberry Plains to Knoxville Jan. 20, 1864. Stop Per one Enfield Rifle Musket, appendages & accoutrements complete.
