Deceased was well known. "It was in Dalton that Mr. Parker, then a boy, started his life's work. He entered a book store here, and from Dalton went to the Dade coal mines, where he clearly showed the makeup of a man in starting to work guarding convicts." At that camp, he showed skill at sales and "he was put in charge of the commissariat department." Next: traveling salesman, successful. "Even after he had acquired a considerable interest in the Arnold Hat company, and had been made vice-president of the company, Mr. Parker would not give up his work on the road, sticking to it until he was seized with the illness which finally resulted in his decease, and literally dying in harness."
